An example of a variety of text on a
particular theme
To produce an egg a cockerel mates with a
hen and the result of this insemination is an egg. So after the rooster has done his stuff, and the female bird
produces the egg, she then sits on it to keep it warm and incubate it until it can hatch. Meanwhile the cock spends
his life crowing over his achievement, and thanks his lucky stars that he is not a capon that has been castrated.
He would like to imagine that he is Chanticleer, a rooster appearing in fables
surrounding the fables of Reynard the Fox.
The young bird starts its life as a fluffy
yellow creature before it grows feathers.
Even after it has grown its protuberances,
that protrude one each side of its body, a bit like an arm, this does not mean that it can fly. Its version of
flight is to take to the air in the farmyard, and maybe hover or glide short distances. It can be great fun
watching bantams trying flying for the first time.
Chickens are known as fowl in the wild
and poultry if domesticated, and the young hen, usually less than a year
old, is often called a chick or pullet.
One can produce amazing recipes from these
as exquisite and tasty food, and although there are those who prefer the meat from legs or breast, or even fingers
or nuggets, other like to eat these either grilled or roasted on a barbecue, or even fried, with some sweet and
sticky, spicy hot, or teriyaki-style sauce.
One can cook
them in the oven, or boil them, but they are tastier when toasted on a grill, or braised lightly on a griddle. Once
cooked they can be heated up in a microwave, or added to a variety of recipes with many ingredients. Drummettes can
be delicious Buffalo style, braised Thai style, and are scrumptious when lemon Dijon is
added. Chicken wings can also be added to a stew or be the main ingredient of a pie
when baking.
